White outdoor sculpture - Approximately 2 meters in size

In 2017, Quays Culture in Manchester entrusted the visionary artist Tim Boin with a remarkable mission: to create an oversized outdoor exhibition designed to convey essential narratives through the art form. Tim's response to this challenge was nothing short of extraordinary – he conceived and meticulously crafted four colossal sculptures: the Bee, Polar Bear, Whale, and Squirrel.

These magnificent sculptures took shape within Tim Boin's studio, each one a testament to the artist's dedication and commitment to the cause. Yet, there was an ingenious twist. As the night descended, these sculptures received an enchanting addition: light.

Employing the technique of projection mapping, Tim Boin created a layer of storytelling visuals that transformed these sculptures into captivating nocturnal storytellers. They came to life with tales woven into their very being.

In 2020, the baton of this noble endeavor was passed to Awareness Art, an initiative founded by the Groei & Bloei Foundation. These sculptures, including the majestic 'White Whale,' became beacons of awareness, shedding light on the perilous plight these animals face due to human-driven habitat destruction.

As you stand before the 'White Whale,' you are invited to contemplate not just its majestic form but also the stories it carries – stories of a fragile ecosystem, of the interconnectedness of all living beings, and of the urgent need for us as humans to become stewards of our planet.

This remarkable sculpture transcends its physical presence; it embodies a call to action, reminding us that art has the power to ignite change. 'White Whale' is not just a work of art but a symbol of hope, a beacon of awareness, and a tribute to the resilience of nature. It beckons us to stand together in safeguarding the world we share with these magnificent creatures, ensuring that they continue to grace our planet's oceans for generations to come."
